Government Internship for Women

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has unveiled its internship initiative for 2026, aimed specifically at women residing in non-Tier-I cities and rural regions. This program seeks to empower women from less developed areas by providing them with insights into government schemes and involving them in the policy-making process. Applications are currently being accepted, and interested candidates can apply until December 10th.

Understanding the Internship
This two-month program, known as the WCD Internship, allows selected women to engage with various schemes, policies, and grassroots initiatives of the Ministry. Given the Ministry's focus on understanding local realities, interns may be tasked with pilot projects or micro-studies, which are small-scale research assignments related to specific programs. This experience not only enhances the interns' knowledge but also offers valuable insights to the Ministry.

Eligibility Criteria
This initiative is open to women aged 21 to 40, including students, researchers, educators, and social workers. Importantly, only women from non-Tier-I cities and rural areas are eligible, ensuring that talented individuals from smaller towns and villages can access opportunities typically available to those in larger urban centers.

Financial Assistance and Accommodation
Participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000, alleviating financial burdens during the internship. Additionally, the Ministry will cover travel expenses and provide hostel accommodation in Delhi, addressing any lodging concerns for women traveling from outside the city.

Reapplication Policy
It is essential to note that women selected for the February-March 2026 cohort will not be permitted to apply for future batches of this program. This policy aims to ensure that new talent is given the opportunity each year.

Application Process
Women interested in this opportunity must complete their application online via the MWCD's official internship portal at wcd.intern.nic.in before the deadline of December 10, 2025.
