Academic Qualification: Candidates applying for the post of Sericulture Demonstrator must be HSLC Examination pass up to 1996-97 and HSSLC pass since 1997-98 and 1 (one) year certificate training in Sericulture form STI, Titabor.
Age: The age limit for recruitment to the above posts would be 18 to 45 years as on 01-01-2015 and as per rule for in service candidates. However, liberty is hereby granted to all those candidates who has become overage due to long waiting after obtaining 1 year Sericulture Training passed certificate to apply for consideration of their case to appear in interview, but such candidates are if selected will be appointed after condo nation of age granted by the Govt.
Physical Standard: The candidate must be physically and mentally sound and free from any organic defects or body deformity likely to interfere with efficient performance for performing field duties and required to undergo medical examination before appointment.
How to Apply: Eligible and Interested candidates may apply in the Standard Form as per IX of the Assam Gazette for application along with attested copies of qualification Certificates, age proof certificate, caste certificate and recent passport size photograph.
Address: The complete application with all attested certificates should be addressed to the Director of Sericulture, Assam, Resom Nagar, Khanapara, Guwahati-22, written with “Application for the post of Sericulture Demonstrator” on the body of the envelope addressed and should reach on or before 9th Oct./2015 by post only. A self-addressed envelope affixing postal stamp of Rs.5/- should also be enclosed along with the application No. personally dropped application will be accepted. Merit cum Seniority will be considered as additional weightage, while selecting a candidate fulfilling all the above conditions.
Sericulture is the natural silk fiber has been adored by human being for various purposes from time immemorial and it is still reign supreme as “The queen of fabrics” in the world textile industry of the world and the demand is also increasing year after year. Silk clothes have a look and feeling of affluence that no other can equal. Due to its great value and use, there have been many attempts in various parts of the world for production of silk in a large scale. One of the methods was rearing of silkworm on large scales by different techniques with great care in natural and controlled condition in different parts of the world for large-scale production of fine silk. This is known as sericulture. ‘Seri’ is a Latin word which means ‘silk’ and ‘culture’ is to ‘rear’. Silk is a natural filament created by the silkworm. Therefore, sericulture means the raising or rearing of silkworms for the production of silk.
