Odisha's CHSE Introduces New Vocational Courses: Healthcare and Apparels for Students

New Vocational Subjects Approved for Higher Secondary Students

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in Odisha has officially sanctioned the addition of two new vocational subjects—Healthcare and Apparels—for students in Classes XI and XII, as part of the Integrated Vocational Stream.

This decision emerged from a recent meeting held by the CHSE Academic Committee, which reviewed a proposal submitted by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA).

After thorough discussions, the committee agreed to incorporate these sectors along with their relevant job roles into the vocational curriculum for higher secondary education.

Students enrolled in the Healthcare program will receive training for the position of General Duty Assistant Trainee, while those in the Apparels course will be prepared for careers as Assistant Fashion Designers.

Additionally, the committee has resolved to implement a standardized syllabus, curriculum, and educational materials created by the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) in Bhopal, under the auspices of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
