Controversy Surrounding NEET UG 2026 Results

The release of the NEET UG 2026 results has ignited a new wave of controversy. Numerous candidates are claiming that their OMR sheets were mistakenly exchanged with those of other test-takers, leading to unexpectedly low scores. Some individuals reported that their initial scores were higher, only to see a significant drop the next day. Among these claims, the case of Anjali Prabha Rautray from Odisha has drawn particular attention; she alleged prior to the results being published that her OMR sheet had been swapped. Anjali mentioned that she had filed several complaints with the NTA regarding this issue, but none have been addressed.

NTA's Grievance Handling Process

In light of these allegations, it is essential to explore how the NTA manages complaints related to NEET UG and other entrance exams. What procedures does the NTA have in place for addressing candidate grievances?

NTA's CPGRAMS Portal for Grievances

The NTA utilizes the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) portal to accept grievances from candidates. This platform enables individuals to report issues such as exam delays, discrepancies in results, or other concerns. Furthermore, the NTA has established dedicated helpline numbers for various entrance examinations, including NEET, JEE, and UGC NET, allowing candidates to register complaints by providing their application numbers.

Formation of the GRC by NTA

In response to previous complaints regarding shortened exam durations at certain centers during NEET UG 2024, the NTA formed a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC). This committee consisted of examination experts and academicians.

At that time, the NTA informed the court that the GRC's recommendations guided decisions regarding complaints about inadequate exam time. After reviewing complaints and appeals, supported by CCTV footage from the affected centers, the GRC decided to grant grace marks to compensate candidates for lost time. Additionally, a committee was established to assess the awarding of grace marks to over 1,500 candidates in NEET-UG 2024.

Understanding the Grievance Redressal Mechanism

The establishment of committees for NEET-UG 2024 indicates that specific groups are created to tackle particular issues. While grievances can be submitted through the CPGRAMS portal, the NTA has not disclosed information regarding who is accountable for resolving these complaints or the expected timeframe for their resolution.
