NEET-UG 2026: Aryan Gupta and Panshul Bansal Achieve Top Ranks

In the NEET-UG 2026 examination, Aryan Gupta and Panshul Bansal achieved remarkable scores, both securing the top rank with 715 out of 720. Aryan's journey to becoming an oncologist was inspired by personal loss, and he credits his success to the unwavering support of his doctor parents. The examination saw impressive performances nationwide, with numerous candidates scoring above 700 marks. This year also marked a significant achievement for female candidates, who outperformed their male counterparts. With around 20 lakh students participating, the results highlight a new era of excellence in medical education.
 

Outstanding Achievements in NEET-UG 2026


In the NEET-UG 2026 examination, Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana both scored an impressive 715 out of 720, securing the All India Rank 1 (AIR-1). Following the announcement of the results, Aryan expressed his aspiration to become an oncologist, a dream ignited by the loss of his grandmother to cancer when he was in third grade. He vowed to fight against this disease and pursue a career as a cancer specialist.


Support from Family

Aryan credited his success to his family, particularly his parents, who are both doctors. They provided unwavering support throughout his preparation journey. He described achieving AIR-1 as a dream come true, bringing immense joy to his entire family. His accomplishment stands as a testament to hard work, discipline, and familial encouragement.


Impressive Performance Across the Nation

Among the state toppers, Jigmet Yangchan Lamo from Ladakh scored 530, Dhruv Tripathi from Andaman and Nicobar achieved 606, and Fahmida Anees from Lakshadweep secured 573 marks. Notably, 17 state toppers scored 700 or more, while 26 others exceeded 690.


Record-Breaking Results

According to the NTA, 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, with 1,492 students achieving over 650, 10,160 surpassing 600, and 90,780 candidates scoring above 500. The top 17 rankers with scores above 705 hail from eight different states, with over 93% of candidates taking the NEET exam for the first time, predominantly aged between 17 and 19.


Widespread Participation

The NEET-UG 2026 examination took place on June 21 across 5,440 centers in 551 cities in India and 14 international locations. Approximately 20 lakh candidates participated, with 11.21 lakh declared successful for admissions into medical, dental, AYUSH, and other related courses. The NTA has assured timely results to facilitate the counseling process.


Women Outperforming in NEET-UG

This year, over 58% of successful candidates were women, with a qualification rate of 56.8%, compared to 55.1% for men. The category-wise statistics reveal 2.91 lakh from the general category, 5.12 lakh from OBC-NCL, 1.59 lakh from SC, 63,716 from ST, 95,026 from General-EWS, 3,666 from PwBD, and 303 from the PWD category. The NTA has also released detailed data on cut-offs, toppers, and other relevant statistics on its official website.
