As part of the new procedure, candidates must confirm their bank details to facilitate fee refunds for NEET UG 2026. In a related note, there has been a rise in cyber fraud incidents. Recently, a hacker compromised 350 accounts and changed the bank information of 150 candidates in an attempt to steal NEET refunds, but was apprehended by law enforcement.


Details of the Cyber Fraud Incident

**Complaint Initiated in Ahmedabad; Arrest in Bihar**
The cybercriminal was captured in Gaya, Bihar, following a complaint lodged in Ahmedabad. A resident from Ahmedabad reported that their daughter's account had been hacked, and the bank details associated with her NEET refund were modified. Acting on this report, police collaborated with Bihar authorities to arrest the suspect, identified as Naveen Yadav from Gaya.


**Extent of the Hacking**
Reports indicate that Naveen Yadav hacked into the accounts of 350 NEET candidates, exploiting weak passwords to gain access. He altered the bank details of 150 candidates but was caught before he could execute further fraudulent activities.


**NTA Issues Fraud Warnings**
The NTA has previously issued warnings to NEET candidates, urging them to keep their login credentials confidential. Candidates are advised to access only the official portal for verifying their bank information.
