CHSE Odisha Board class 12 arts result 2023: 78.88% students pass in Arts stream
The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, has announced the results of the class 12 Board exams for arts students. The pass percentage for this year is 78.88 percent, showing a slight decline compared to last year's 82.10 percent. However, it is an improvement over the pre-pandemic years. Notably, female students have outperformed their male counterparts, with a pass percentage of 85.63 percent for girls and 70.43 percent for boys. Among the different streams, Arts has recorded the lowest pass percentage.
The results for the science and commerce streams were already declared earlier. The science stream had a pass percentage of 84.93 percent, while commerce recorded a pass percentage of 81.12 percent. Balasore emerged as the best-performing district in the Arts stream, with 84.97 percent of students clearing the exam. On the other hand, Nawarangapur had the lowest pass percentage in the Arts stream this year, with 70.74 percent.
To pass the exam, candidates must secure a minimum of 30 percent marks in each subject and an overall 33 percent marks. Arts students waiting for their results can download their marksheets from official websites such as chseodisha.nic.in, orissaresults.nic.in, SANDS app, and Digilocker. Students who are dissatisfied with their marks can opt for re-evaluation of their answer sheets. The re-evaluation forms will be available on the Odisha Board's official website within 4-5 days of the result declaration, and the fee for re-evaluation is Rs 200 per subject.
For those who did not pass the annual exams, there is an opportunity to appear in the supplementary exams to avoid losing a year. The registration fee for Arts subjects in the supplementary exams is Rs. 520. Detailed information about the supplementary exams can be found on the board's website.
The exams for the commerce and arts streams of CHSE Class 12 took place from March 2 to April 4 and April 5, respectively. The science stream exams started on March 1 and concluded on April 4. In 2022, out of the 2,13,406 students who registered for the Odisha 12th Arts exams, 1,95,838 appeared, and 1,71,288 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 82.10 percent. In 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Odisha board did not conduct the 12th exams for any stream to ensure student safety. However, in 2021, 89.49 percent of students who took exams in the arts stream passed. The pass percentages were lower in 2020 and 2019, with 67.56 percent and 65.89 percent, respectively, for the arts stream in CHSE Odisha +2.
