Overview of CBSE Board Exams
New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully concluded the Class 10 board examinations on March 11. Meanwhile, the Class 12 exams are ongoing and will wrap up on April 10. Both sets of exams commenced on February 17. This year, over 4.3 million students are participating, with approximately 2.5 million in Class 10 and 1.85 million in Class 12. The Class 10 exams were conducted across 8,074 centers, while Class 12 exams are being held at 7,574 centers.
Student Participation Statistics
Among the 2.5 million candidates for Class 10, around 1.4 million are boys and 1.09 million are girls. For Class 12, approximately 1.02 million boys and 0.83 million girls are taking the exams.
Expected Result Announcement Dates
The results for Class 10 are anticipated to be released before those of Class 12, as the second board exam for Class 10 is scheduled for May 2026. Students in Class 10 will have the chance to improve their performance in up to three subjects during this second examination.
Last Year's Result Timeline
Last year, the results for both Class 10 and Class 12 were announced on May 13. However, due to the second board exam occurring in May, the Class 10 results are expected to be declared in April. As of now, CBSE has not officially announced the result dates.

Clarifications on Class 10 Board Exam Structure
CBSE has issued clarifications regarding the structure of the Class 10 board exams starting in 2026. Key points include:
Mandatory First Exam: All students must appear for the first board exam.
Opportunity for Improvement: Students who pass can improve their scores in up to three subjects, including science, mathematics, social science, and languages.
Mandatory Re-examination Category: Students absent in three or more subjects in the first exam will be placed in the 'mandatory re-examination' category and can only appear in the main exam the following year.
Compartment Category: Students receiving 'compartment' results can take the second exam under the compartment category.
No Additional Subjects: After passing Class 10, students cannot take exams for additional subjects separately.
