It is expected that the results will be announced soon. Meanwhile, a pressing question among candidates and current teachers is whether failing the UPTET will impact their government job status. Various discussions are taking place regarding this issue, but the regulations present a different perspective. The primary aim of UPTET is to establish minimum eligibility criteria for teacher recruitment. Purpose of UPTET
UPTET, or the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, serves as a qualifying examination. Candidates who pass this test are deemed eligible to apply for teaching positions at both primary (grades 1 to 5) and upper primary (grades 6 to 8) levels. This examination does not directly lead to job appointments but sets the minimum qualifications required to participate in the teacher recruitment process.
Does Failing Affect Government Employment?
The straightforward answer to this question is 'no.' If a teacher is already employed in a government school and their appointment was made according to the applicable regulations at that time, failing UPTET 2026 will not result in job termination. However, for appointments where passing the TET is a mandatory condition of service, the relevant department or state government rules will apply.
Clarifications from the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has clarified that in states where TET is mandatory under recruitment rules, teachers must adhere to the established regulations. However, whether a teacher's service continues or not cannot be determined solely based on exam results; it depends on the specific recruitment rules, service conditions, and government orders.
Minimum Marks Required to Pass
For UPTET 2026, candidates from the general category must score at least 90 out of 150 marks, which is 60 percent. For candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and persons with disabilities, the minimum score required is 82 marks, or 55 percent. Those scoring below these thresholds will be considered unsuccessful in the examination.
How to Check Results After Announcement
Once the results are declared, candidates can visit the official UPESSC website and click on the link for UPTET Result 2026. They will need to enter their registration number and date of birth or password to log in. The scorecard will then be displayed on the screen, which candidates can download and print for their records.
