UP Board Exam 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has released crucial guidelines concerning the upcoming high school and intermediate examinations for 2026. A recent communication states that if a student is found engaging in dishonest practices during the exam, they will not face criminal charges.

The board emphasizes its dedication to ensuring that the 2026 examinations are conducted fairly and without cheating. Under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, strict measures will be enforced against those attempting to compromise the integrity of public examinations. Notably, the penalties outlined in this Act will not be applicable to students.
This directive was issued from the board's headquarters in Prayagraj on February 15, 2026, reaffirming the government's commitment to a transparent examination process.
Reason for Student Relief:
The Council has clarified that the punitive measures of the Act will not affect candidates. Referencing a prior order from January 29, 2026, it was noted that the Preamble and Section 3 of the Act explicitly state that students taking the exams will not face criminal liability, prioritizing their future. This means students caught cheating will not be prosecuted under this law.
A student found cheating will not incur criminal charges, ensuring they will not face imprisonment.
Consequences for Cheating:
If a student is discovered using unfair means during a public examination, their answer sheet for that specific paper will not be assessed. The examination authority will declare their results based on established regulations.

Who Will Face Penalties?
The Council has instructed officials to enforce strict penalties against external individuals or groups involved in cheating or other irregularities as per Section 8 of the Act. - Cheating syndicates
- Those disrupting the examination process
