Important Updates on SSC CGL Examination 2026



The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced crucial details regarding the exam city and admit cards for candidates participating in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 (Tier-1). Candidates can access their exam city information by logging into the official SSC website. The admit cards are expected to be available for download about 2 to 3 days before the exam date.


As per a notice released by the Commission on September 12, 2026, the CGL Examination (Tier-1) is scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 30, 2026.


**New Registration Required for Scribe Facility**


Candidates who wish to utilize the 'Own Scribe' option must follow the new registration process for scribes. All previous scribe registrations made before November 5, 2025, have been annulled; thus, it is essential for all scribes to complete a new registration.


The registration for scribes is now linked to Aadhaar verification. Therefore, both the candidate and the scribe must undergo the new registration process.


**OTR Mapping Deadline September 24**


The SSC has indicated that candidates who have chosen their own scribe must provide the scribe's registration number to finalize the OTR (One-Time Registration) mapping. This mapping can be completed until 11:00 PM on September 24, 2026. Only candidates who successfully complete the OTR mapping within this timeframe will receive scribe entry passes.


Additionally, the maximum age limit for individuals serving as scribes will be determined according to the updated policy issued on November 4, 2025. All other regulations regarding the scribe facility will remain in accordance with the relevant examination notification.


Details Included in the City Intimation Slip


The exam city information slip will feature the candidate's name, exam name, registration/application details, the date of the SSC CGL Tier-1 exam, the designated exam city, and essential instructions for the exam.


Steps to Download the City Intimation Slip


1. Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in.


2. Click on the 'Login/Register' option on the homepage.


3. Enter your registration number or username and password.


4. After logging in, find the link related to the SSC CGL Exam 2026.


5. Click on the link for the city intimation slip.


6. Review your exam city and exam date displayed on the screen.


7. Download the city intimation slip and save it for future reference.
