IIT Madras Introduces Free AI Courses in Hindi to Enhance Accessibility
IIT Madras Launches AI Courses in Hindi
In response to the increasing demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) education, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is making strides to cater to Hindi-speaking individuals. The institute has announced the launch of six new AI courses in Hindi as part of its ‘AI for All’ initiative. These courses will be offered free of charge on the SWAYAM Plus platform, aiming to eliminate language barriers and make AI knowledge accessible to a broader audience.
Details of the Free AI Courses
The six online courses focused on AI will be available in Hindi, specifically targeting students, educators, and anyone keen on learning about AI. Each course will last between 25 to 45 hours, and participants can earn a certificate upon passing an exam for a small fee.
Growing Interest in AI Education
The ‘AI for All’ initiative was launched by IIT Madras in May 2025, attracting around 420,000 registrations for its first batch and about 50,000 for the second. Due to this significant interest, the institute has decided to offer these courses in Hindi, as learning in one's native language can simplify the understanding of complex subjects. This initiative aims to broaden AI education access, even in remote regions of India.
Topics Covered in the New Courses
The Hindi courses will cover various topics, including ‘AI for Educators’ and ‘AI in Physics,’ with the potential for additional AI-related courses in the future. SWAYAM Plus, an initiative by IIT Madras under the Ministry of Education, currently hosts over 430 online courses across more than 15 sectors, including engineering, banking, finance, hospitality, IT, and ITES. The platform has seen over 370,000 learners register so far.
