IGNOU Extends Re-Registration Deadline for January 2026 Session
Good News for IGNOU Students
Students enrolled at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) have received positive news as the university has prolonged the deadline for re-registration for the January 2026 session. This extension allows students more time to apply for their Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online courses. The previous deadline of January 15, 2026, has now been moved to January 31, 2026, to accommodate students' needs and challenges.
New Re-Registration Deadline
The re-registration period for the January 2026 session has been extended, providing students with additional time to submit their applications. Interested candidates can now register online until January 31, 2026. The university acknowledged that many students encountered technical difficulties and document-related issues that hindered timely applications, prompting this decision. The entire re-registration process is conducted online via the official IGNOU website, onlinerr.ignou.ac.in.
Eligibility for Indian and International Students
IGNOU has confirmed that the re-registration portal is accessible to both Indian and international students. All eligible candidates enrolled in ODL and online courses can apply. A re-registration fee of Rs. 300 is applicable, which can be paid using debit cards, credit cards, or net banking.
Documents Needed for Re-Registration
Students must upload several essential documents during the re-registration process. Required documents include a passport-sized photograph, signature, academic certificates, experience certificates (if applicable), and category certificates for those in reserved categories. It is crucial that all documents are clear and accurate to prevent any issues with the application.
Troubleshooting Login Issues
For students already registered with IGNOU, login can be done using their username and password. In case of not receiving the OTP, forgetting the password, or facing challenges in updating email or mobile numbers, students should reach out to their nearest regional center. It is advisable for students to complete the re-registration process promptly rather than waiting until the last moment and to keep a printed copy of the form for future reference.
