Several esteemed universities and institutions conduct entrance examinations for undergraduate Economics programs. Understanding these exams is vital for students to navigate their academic journey effectively.


Key Entrance Exams for Economics

1. CUET (UG) - Common University Entrance Test


This examination facilitates admission into BA (Economics) and Business Economics courses. It comprises sections on Language, Domain Subjects, and a General Aptitude Test. Applications are accepted from February to April, with the exam scheduled for May-June. The fee is ₹650, and the scoring system follows a +5/-1 format.


2. NMIMS-NPAT - National Test For Programs After 12th


This test is designed for those seeking admission to the 3-year B.Sc. Economics program at the Mumbai and Bengaluru campuses. Conducted online, it lasts for 100 minutes and assesses Quantitative Ability, Reasoning, General Intelligence, and English. Applications open in early December and close in late May, with fees starting at ₹2000.


3. AMU-ET - Aligarh Muslim University Entrance Test


Previously, this exam was for the 11-year integrated program at Aligarh Muslim University but has now been replaced by CUET-UG. It was an offline exam lasting 120 minutes, covering English, Indo-Islamic Culture, General Awareness, Reasoning, and Current Affairs. The application fee was ₹450.


4. BHU-UET 101 - Undergraduate Entrance Test


Admission to the BA (Hons) Economics at Banaras Hindu University will now occur through CUET-UG, replacing BHU-UET 101. The exam can be taken online or offline and includes questions on general knowledge, current affairs, reasoning, mathematical ability, and language comprehension. Applications will be accepted from mid-August to early September, with a fee of ₹600 and a requirement of 10+2 with Mathematics.


5. JMI-ET - Entrance Test


The 3-year BA Economics program at Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, will now be admitted through CUET-UG, replacing JMI-ET. This online exam lasts 90 minutes and tests language skills, general awareness, reasoning, and numerical ability. Applications will be open from the third week of May, with the exam scheduled for late August. The application fee is ₹550.


6. MITWPU-CET - MITWPU Common Entrance Test


This exam is for admission into BA Government Administration and B.Sc. Economics/Business Economics programs. Conducted online, it lasts for 120 minutes. Admit cards will be issued in April, and the exam includes sections on General Knowledge, logical reasoning, mathematics, English, computers, and an interview. The application fee is ₹1000.
