DSSSB Exam 2025 Delayed as Age Limit Review is Underway
DSSSB Exam Postponement Announcement
DSSSB Exam 2025 Postponed: The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has announced a delay in its upcoming exam, as the government is contemplating an increase in the age limit for candidates. Delhi's Education Minister, Ashish Sood, highlighted that previous administrations failed to conduct DSSSB exams, resulting in many aspiring teachers surpassing the age threshold. Typically, candidates complete their studies by the age of 24-25, while the current minimum age requirement stands at 30. Furthermore, the Government of India has revised recruitment rules nationwide, affecting some candidates who have already aged out of eligibility for the exam.
The DSSSB had initially scheduled the exam for March, but this has now been halted. A new date will be communicated once the age relaxation provisions are established.
Proposed Changes to Age Limit Regulations
The announcement of the exam postponement has left many teacher candidates in Delhi feeling disheartened. In response, candidates met with the Education Minister on Saturday. Officials, along with the Minister, have consistently assured that the notification for 2025, which was based on outdated policies from the previous government, will be revised promptly. The current BJP administration is committed to ensuring fairness for all residents of Delhi.
Earlier this year, the DSSSB released a recruitment notification that altered the age limit rules previously applicable until 2024, including the removal of a special 10-year age relaxation for women. Additionally, in January, the age limit for PGT positions was lowered. The government is now reviewing the possibility of raising the age limit for DSSSB exams, and until a conclusive decision is reached, the exam will remain on hold.
Temporary Suspension of Previous Orders
In light of these developments, the education department of the Delhi government has temporarily suspended the old order. This means that the exam will not proceed until a new directive regarding the age limit is issued. The All India Guest Teachers Association has expressed that an increase in the age limit for recruitment would significantly benefit young individuals and guest teachers.
