CSAB Special Counseling Launch



The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has initiated the application process for its special counseling aimed at students who have qualified in JEE Main 2026, starting today, July 28. This counseling follows the conclusion of all JoSAA counseling rounds and is designed to fill vacant B.Tech seats across various institutions, including NITs, IIITs, IIEST, SPAs, and GFTIs. This year, there will be two special counseling rounds, providing a vital last chance for students who either did not obtain their desired seat during JoSAA or are looking for a more suitable college and branch. The application window and choice filling will remain accessible until August 5.


The counseling will encompass 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, IIEST, 3 SPAs, and over 50 GFTI institutes. Historical data suggests that around 13,000 to 14,000 seats are still unfilled, including those at notable NITs and IIITs. This scenario offers a significant opportunity for students who achieved lower ranks in the JoSAA process. The results for the first round of seat allotment will be announced on August 6.


Eligibility Criteria


Candidates who are eligible for JoSAA based on their JEE Main 2026 results can apply for CSAB counseling. This includes those who did not secure a seat in JoSAA, those who relinquished their seat, or those whose seat was canceled for any reason. To qualify for admission, General category students must have achieved at least 75% in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. For SC, ST, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates, a minimum of 65% marks is required.
