Over 20,000 applicants are invited for the interview process, which will begin with document verification on November 18. This recruitment follows the State Level Selection Test held in September, aimed at filling over 35,000 teaching vacancies. Interview Candidates Announced by WBSSC

Kolkata: The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has published the names of candidates who have been selected for interviews following their participation in the State Level Selection Test (SLST) conducted in September.

The announcement regarding the candidates eligible for interviews for teaching roles in Classes 11 and 12 was made late Saturday night.

Sources from WBSSC indicate that over 20,000 applicants have been invited for interviews, with the document verification process set to commence on November 18.

State Education Minister Bratya Basu expressed gratitude to WBSSC for adhering to the Supreme Court's directives in expediting the recruitment process. He encouraged those qualified candidates who were not selected for interviews to remain hopeful.

The minister stated, "The West Bengal Central School Service Commission has released a preliminary list of candidates eligible for interviews, along with detailed information about those applying for teaching positions in classes XI-XII on its website."

He assured that the recruitment process is expected to conclude by December.

Basu added, "The document verification for these candidates will officially start on November 18, 2025, showcasing our commitment to completing the recruitment process by December in a transparent and responsible manner, as promised by our Chief Minister. Therefore, we urge job seekers to maintain their faith." However, the list for interview candidates for Classes 9 and 10 will be announced at a later date.

The SLST was conducted in September in two phases to recruit teachers for Classes 9 to 12.

This examination was the first in nine years aimed at filling 35,726 teaching vacancies for Classes 9-10 and 11-12. Out of these, 23,212 positions are designated for Classes 9 and 10, while 12,514 are for Classes 11 and 12.

The new examination comes in the wake of a teacher recruitment scandal that has affected West Bengal politics for several years.

On April 3, the Supreme Court invalidated the appointments of approximately 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff who were recruited through the 2016 selection process.

The new exams were mandated by the Supreme Court, which also prohibited candidates from the previous panel (2016) who were deemed tainted and ineligible from participating in the new examination.
