Vijay Dehariya's Inspiring Story

Challenges are a part of everyone's life, but some individuals turn these challenges into their strengths. Vijay Kumar Dehariya from Madhya Pradesh exemplifies this. Growing up in a small village in the Seoni district, Vijay faced financial hardships from a young age. To support his family, he had to engage in livestock rearing and take care of buffaloes. Despite these responsibilities, he kept education as his primary hope for a better future.

Funding Education Through Tutoring

Vijay completed his early education in his village. He was apprehensive about the eighth-grade board exams but excelled, becoming the top student at the tehsil level. He then continued his studies at the Excellence School in Seoni, cycling to school every day. Amidst financial struggles, Vijay began tutoring children, which helped him cover his educational expenses. Teaching others also enhanced his understanding and boosted his confidence.

Securing a Job as a Forest Guard

After finishing his engineering degree, Vijay worked as a supervisor in a private firm in Indore. He later transitioned to a position as a forest guard. Throughout his job, he remained focused on his larger goals. Despite facing difficulties related to his salary, he continued his preparations. Even while on duty in the forest, he carried books with him and dedicated any free time to studying.

Facing Setbacks in Civil Service Exams

Vijay's journey towards civil service was filled with ups and downs. He faced the preliminary exam six times, the main exam five times, and attended interviews three times. During these attempts, he encountered failures and criticism from others. However, instead of giving up, he focused on understanding his shortcomings and improving his performance. Ultimately, in 2018, his hard work paid off when he secured the 38th rank in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exam and was selected for the position of Deputy Collector.

Learning from Mistakes and Staying Focused

Even after becoming a Deputy Collector, Vijay remains connected to his roots. When he visits his village, he meets with old friends and local residents. His message to the youth is to embrace failures rather than fear them, and to learn from their mistakes. It is crucial to focus on one's goals instead of being swayed by negativity.
