Uttar Pradesh Teacher Recruitment Updates

Candidates preparing for the TGT and PGT teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh have received important updates. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has unveiled the revised syllabus for both recruitment processes on its official platform. Notably, several significant alterations have been introduced to the exam format this time around.

For the first time, negative marking will be applied in the TGT and PGT exams. Additionally, questions pertaining to General Knowledge will now be part of the assessment. The PGT recruitment will continue to include an interview component, similar to previous years. The Commission is expected to release the General Knowledge syllabus shortly, allowing candidates to adjust their study plans accordingly.

The new exam structure will feature a total of 120 questions in both assessments. Out of these, 90 will focus on the relevant subject matter, while 30 will cover General Studies. Each question will be valued at three marks, leading to a total of 360 marks for the written exam. Furthermore, the PGT recruitment will include an interview worth 40 marks in addition to the written test.

A major change this year is the introduction of negative marking for both recruitment exams. In the past, TGT and PGT exams comprised 125 subject-specific questions, each carrying four marks. Currently, only the subject-wise syllabus has been released, with the General Studies syllabus to follow after a Commission meeting. Additionally, the Secondary Education Department has been asked for clarification regarding equivalent degrees for various subjects.

Modifications in the Sanskrit Syllabus

While most subjects have not undergone significant changes, the Sanskrit syllabus has seen some updates. Candidates have noted that new sections related to Vedic literature have been added to the PGT Sanskrit syllabus, while the coverage of certain older texts has been reduced. In TGT Sanskrit, *Meghadutam* and *Niti Shatakam* have been excluded, whereas *Hitopadesha*, the second canto of *Raghuvamsha Mahakavya*, and the first chapter of *Sahitya Darpana* have been included.

Call for New Teacher Recruitment

In related news, aspiring teachers have presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging the initiation of a new primary teacher recruitment drive. The candidates express that they have been awaiting a new recruitment process for an extended period. Additionally, representatives from the 'Rozgar Adhikar Abhiyan' (Right to Employment Campaign) have called for the prompt commencement of recruitment for over one lakh vacant positions across various government sectors.
