Due to the ongoing severe cold and dense fog in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated the closure of all schools, from nursery through class 12, until January 1st. This directive applies to all educational institutions in the state, including those affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and the UP Board. Schools that do not adhere to this order will face penalties for non-compliance.
Weather Alerts for Specific Districts
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding dense fog in several districts, including Baghpat, Meerut, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, and Budaun. Additionally, a cold wave is anticipated in areas such as Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.
School Closures in Other Regions
In addition to Uttar Pradesh, schools in Bihar are also closed until December 30th for students up to 8th grade, with closures extending to class 10th in Saharsa and Nalanda. Furthermore, in Una, Himachal Pradesh, schools will be closed from December 29th to 31st due to the cold weather. Schools in Punjab have been shut since December 22nd because of the cold wave, with no specific date announced for their reopening.
