Uttar Pradesh Introduces New Exam Pattern for Assistant Professor Recruitment
Significant Changes in Assistant Professor Recruitment Exam
A notable update has been made for individuals preparing for the Assistant Professor roles in non-government aided colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has unveiled a revised format for the written examination. This new structure not only increases the number of questions but also introduces negative marking for the first time. The Commission believes that this updated pattern will enhance the evaluation of candidates' subject expertise. Many competitive students have expressed their support for this modification. A notification regarding the recruitment of 2,107 Assistant Professors is expected to be released soon.
New Question Format Details
The Assistant Professor recruitment examination format for 330 non-government aided colleges in Uttar Pradesh has undergone a transformation. Candidates will now be required to answer 120 questions within a two-hour timeframe, an increase from the previous total of 100 questions. A key change is the implementation of negative marking; one-third of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer, a feature that was absent in the earlier format.
As per the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, the updated question paper will consist of 90 questions from the relevant subject and 30 from General Studies (GS). Each question will be valued at three marks, leading to a total of 360 marks for the examination. In the past, the exam included 100 questions—70 from the subject and 30 from General Knowledge—each worth two marks, totaling 200 marks.
Enhanced Assessment Through Increased Questions
Students preparing for competitive exams believe that the new format is more equitable. They argue that the syllabus for many subjects is extensive, and the previous 70 questions were inadequate for a thorough assessment. For example, the Hindi subject necessitates studying over 50 books; thus, a higher number of questions will enable a more detailed evaluation.
Upcoming Recruitment for 2,107 Positions
The Commission has recently commenced the selection process for 111 Principal positions in aided colleges. A recruitment notification for the 2,107 vacant Assistant Professor positions, as reported by the Directorate of Higher Education, will be issued shortly. The Commission aims to finalize the selection process by December.
Moreover, modifications have also been made to the exam pattern for TGT and PGT recruitment in aided secondary schools. For the first time, General Knowledge questions will be included alongside subject-specific questions, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of candidates' overall preparedness.
