Age Relaxation for UP Police Recruitment
The government of Uttar Pradesh has exciting news for youth who have surpassed the age limit for police recruitment. The Yogi administration has introduced a three-year age relaxation for the recruitment of UP Police Constables and Jail Warders (UP Police Constable Vacancy 2026). This adjustment will be applicable to all categories. Previously, the upper age limit for the general category was set at 22 years, which has now been raised to 25 years.
Moreover, candidates from OBC, SC, ST, and female applicants will also benefit from a three-year extension in the upper age limit. Additionally, age relaxation will be available under existing reservation policies.
Reason for Relaxation Due to COVID-19
This measure has been implemented in response to recruitment delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many eligible candidates became overage during this period and were thus unable to participate in the recruitment process. To accommodate these individuals, a direct three-year extension in the maximum age limit has been granted across all categories.
Application Deadline for UP Police Recruitment
The online application window for the UP Police Constable recruitment 2026 opened on December 31 and will remain open until January 30, 2026. The final date for fee payment is February 2.
Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the official website uppbpb.gov.in. Applicants from the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay a fee of Rs. 500, while SC/ST candidates will pay Rs. 400. Payment can be made online.
Recruitment Overview
A total of 32,379 positions will be filled within the UP Police department through this recruitment drive. This includes 10,469 positions for Constable Civil Police (Male/Female), 15,131 for Constable (PAC/Armed Police Male Only), 1,341 for Constable Special Force Battalion (Male Only), 2,282 for Women Constable Battalion (Lucknow, Budaun, and Gorakhpur), 71 for Constable Mounted Police (Male Only), 3,279 for Jail Warden Male, and 106 for Jail Warden Female.
