Innovative Steps by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education



The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has introduced important changes aimed at improving the security and transparency of the examination process. For the first time, answer sheets for High School improvement and compartment exams, along with Intermediate compartment exams, are being sent to evaluation centers through the Postal Department. Furthermore, beginning with the 2027 board examinations, students' signatures will be included on their admit cards. These initiatives aim to bolster the security of answer sheets, streamline the evaluation process, and effectively combat issues like the use of impostors and cheating.


Transporting Answer Sheets Securely

On July 28, answer booklets from 92 examination centers across all 75 districts were initially sent to district-level collection centers. The Postal Department then transported these to the main collection center at Government Inter College (GIC) in Prayagraj.


**Minimizing Irregularities**


All answer booklets will be scanned at GIC, Prayagraj, and subsequently sent online to evaluation centers in Prayagraj, Meerut, and Varanasi. After evaluation, examiners will input the marks online. This new approach significantly reduces the chances of answer booklets being lost, stolen, or tampered with during transit, while also cutting down on costs associated with teachers, staff, and security.


Signature Requirement on Admit Cards Starting 2027

**Combating Impersonation**


In a bid to tackle impersonation and the activities of solver gangs, the UP Board has decided that from the 2027 High School and Intermediate examinations, students' signatures will be printed on their admit cards. Currently, signatures are collected along with photographs during the online registration process.


**Postal Department's Role in Answer Sheet Transport**


During exams, when students sign their answer booklets and attendance sheets, these signatures will be verified against those on their admit cards. This measure is expected to significantly lower the risk of impersonation, where someone else takes the exam on behalf of a student. UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh mentioned that a system for sending answer sheets via the postal department is being tested, and if successful, it will be fully implemented for the main board examinations next year.
