The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has initiated the recruitment process for 1,936 Assistant Professor positions in degree colleges across the state. The application window opened on September 8, 2026, as per the official notification from the Commission. Dr. Prashant Kumar, the Commission Chairman, mentioned that a One-Time Registration (OTR) system is now in place to streamline the application process. Candidates are required to complete the OTR before submitting their applications for the Assistant Professor roles.


Application Process and Important Dates

Interested candidates must submit their applications online through the official UPESSC website. It is crucial for applicants to review the detailed notification prior to applying. According to Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Deputy Secretary of the Commission, the online registration began on September 8, 2026. The last date to pay the application fee is October 7, 2026, and candidates can make corrections to their applications until October 11, 2026. Application Fees

The application fee structure is as follows:



  • ₹2,000 for candidates in the Unreserved, OBC, and EWS categories.


  • ₹1,500 for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.


  • ₹1,000 for candidates registering under the PwD quota.



Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UP Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026, candidates must possess the necessary educational qualifications relevant to their subject area. Generally, applicants should have a Master's degree in the pertinent subject with a minimum of 55% marks and must have cleared NET/SLET/SET. A PhD is also required. Candidates from reserved categories and those with disabilities will receive a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks needed for the Master's degree.


Age Limit

The upper age limit for applicants is set at 62 years, calculated as of July 1, 2026. Age relaxation will be applicable as per the existing rules for reserved categories and other eligible groups.
