Exciting News for UPSC Aspirants: A noteworthy development has surfaced for those preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Despite the significant time elapsed since the announcement of the final results for the 2024 examination, a candidate's aspirations have been realized a year later. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has confirmed this through an official notice.
Details of the Announcement
The UPSC disclosed that the results for the Civil Services Examination 2024 were made public on April 22, 2025. A total of 1,009 candidates were recommended for various positions out of 1,129 available vacancies, which include roles in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Group 'A' and Group 'B' Central Services.
Reserve List Release
Following the announcement of the final results, and upon a request from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the UPSC issued a 'Reserve List' on October 28, 2025. This list included 114 candidates, comprising 94 from the General Category, 5 from the EWS Category, 13 from the OBC Category, 1 from the SC Category, and 1 from the ST Category.
New Selection from the Reserve List
In the latest update, the UPSC has recommended an additional candidate from the Reserve List to fill the remaining vacancies. The selected individual is Veergandham Lakshmi Sujitha (Roll Number: 6206417), who has been chosen from the General Category. The relevant government department will reach out to her to commence the training process.
Understanding the Selection Process
It is essential to note that each year, numerous candidates aiming to become IAS, IPS, or IFS officers participate in the Civil Services Examination. This examination selects candidates for various services, including IAS, IPS, IFS, Indian Railway Accounts Service, Indian Postal Service, Indian Dak Service, and Indian Trade Service, among others. The examination consists of three stages: Prelims, Mains, and an Interview, with the merit list being compiled based on the Mains and Interview results.
