UPESSC Extends Application Deadline for Primary Assistant Teacher Recruitment

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has announced an extension for the application deadline for Primary Assistant Teacher positions to November 4, 2026. This decision follows a ruling by the Allahabad High Court, which allowed additional qualifications for applicants. Candidates can also correct their application errors until November 7, 2026. Important Update for Candidates: A significant announcement has been made for the numerous candidates in Uttar Pradesh aspiring to become Primary Assistant Teachers within the Basic and Secondary Education Departments. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) in Prayagraj has decided to extend the online application deadline by an additional week. Candidates can now submit their applications until November 4, 2026, instead of the previous deadline of October 28, 2026. Additionally, applicants will have until November 7, 2026, to rectify any mistakes in their submitted forms.


Reason for the Extension:


The extension is not a result of any technical issues but follows a significant ruling from the Allahabad High Court. On October 24, the High Court addressed a petition, leading to directives from the UP Government's Secondary Education Department on October 27 to incorporate two new qualifications into the teacher recruitment criteria:


1. 2-Year Diploma in Special Education:
Candidates holding a 2-year diploma in Special Education recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) are now eligible.


2. 4-Year B.El.Ed Degree:
Those who have completed a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) program can also apply.


Previously, individuals with these qualifications were not permitted to apply for this recruitment. Following the High Court's directive, the government approved their inclusion, prompting the Commission to extend the application deadline to November 4 to allow these candidates adequate time to apply.


Exam Date Status:


Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Deputy Secretary of the Commission, confirmed that the written examination date remains unchanged. The exam is scheduled to take place on December 3 and December 4, 2026.
