These professionals perform various tasks, such as:



  • Conducting laboratory tests and preparing reports


  • Providing patient care and administering therapies


  • Assisting in surgical procedures


  • Developing dietary plans for patients



Pathway to Becoming an Allied Health Professional

To pursue a career as an Allied Health Professional, candidates should have completed their 12th grade in the Science stream with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Afterward, they can opt for various courses:



  • Diploma courses such as DMLT, DOT, or DRIT (2 to 3 years)


  • Degree programs like BSc in Medical Lab Technician, BSc in Radiology, or BSc in Optometry (3.5 to 5 years)


  • Postgraduate options including MSc or diploma programs



According to the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professionals Act 2021, candidates must complete a 2 to 4-year diploma or degree in their chosen field after 12th grade. A 3 to 6-year degree course is required to become a healthcare professional. Job opportunities are available in both private and government healthcare facilities.
