Understanding the Recruitment Process at Ayodhya's Ram Mandir
Overview of Ram Mandir Staff Recruitment
Ram Mandir Staff Recruitment Process: The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has become a focal point of national and international discussions, especially following serious allegations regarding the misappropriation of temple donations. In response to a report from the UP government's Special Investigation Team (SIT), significant actions have been initiated. Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Temple Trust, along with Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra, has resigned, and eight individuals linked to the temple's administration have been arrested. Amidst this upheaval, questions arise about the management of such a significant temple, including the recruitment of priests, engineers, and other personnel. This article aims to clarify the recruitment process and salary structures involved.
Management of the Ram Mandir
The 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust' is responsible for all operations related to the Ram Mandir, ensuring accountability for every financial transaction. The Trust oversees everything from temple rituals and security to cleanliness and staff remuneration. In light of recent controversies, the Trust is undergoing restructuring to enhance transparency and security in its operations.
Becoming a Priest at the Ram Mandir
The selection process for priests serving Ram Lalla is highly competitive and merit-based. A formal notification is issued when vacancies arise, inviting applications from interested candidates. In the latest recruitment drive in 2023, around 3,000 candidates applied for a limited number of positions, with only 200 shortlisted for interviews based on merit.
Interview and Training Process
Shortlisted candidates undergo interviews conducted by a special panel at Karsevakpuram, comprising esteemed saints and scholars from across India. The interview assesses candidates on their knowledge of 'Sandhya Vandan' (ritual prayers), mantra chanting, and worship protocols for Lord Ram. Successful candidates then participate in a six-month residential training program based on a curriculum designed by prominent saints. During this training, they receive free accommodation and meals, along with a monthly stipend of ₹2,000. After completing their training, candidates are assigned roles as priests within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. Those not selected receive a certificate, ensuring they are prioritized for future vacancies.
Salaries of Priests and Religious Staff
The chief priest earns approximately ₹38,500 monthly, while assistant priests receive between ₹33,000 and ₹36,000, depending on their experience and role. In addition to their salaries, both chief and assistant priests benefit from accommodation, meals, medical facilities, and a weekly day off.
Recruitment of Non-Religious and Technical Staff
The Ram Mandir complex requires a variety of professionals for logistics, construction, and technical operations. Recruitment drives are held for positions at the 'International Ram Katha Museum,' which operates under the Trust. Recently, applications were sought for engineering roles on a contract basis, initially for two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance. Vacancies included two posts for Electrical, Electronic, or IT engineers and one for a Mechanical engineer, open to degree or diploma holders. Salaries for these positions range from ₹35,000 to ₹40,000, depending on qualifications.
Application Process
Interested candidates must submit their resume and educational documents to the 'Director's Office, International Ram Katha Museum, Naya Ghat, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh - 224123' within two weeks of the advertisement's release. Additionally, they should email their profiles to recruitments.arks.srjbtk@gmail.com.
Management and Security Staff
Various staff categories are employed to manage temple operations, including donation counting and storeroom management. Positions such as *Kothari*, *Bhandari*, and store managers oversee temple provisions, earning monthly salaries between ₹19,000 and ₹24,000. Staff responsible for counting donations are typically hired through private agencies or on a contract basis, earning around ₹20,000 monthly. Following a recent theft incident, it is expected that security measures and verification protocols for donation counting staff will be significantly enhanced.
