1. Via Police or Security Forces

2. Through the Army


Individuals who join the Indian Army can receive training in the Corps of Engineers or the Army Ordnance Corps, eventually being assigned to a bomb disposal unit.


Educational Requirements and Training

Qualifications Needed


There is no direct recruitment for bomb disposal squads; candidates must first be selected by a police or security force before undergoing specialized training.



  • Constable/Sepoy: Must have completed 10th or 12th grade, along with basic police training and a bomb disposal course.


  • Sub-Inspector/Technical Officer: Requires a graduation degree or diploma in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics, plus an Explosive Handling course from NSG or DRDO.


  • Technician: Should possess a B.Tech or diploma in Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, along with training in Explosive Detection & Disposal.



These skilled teams are tasked with investigating suspicious items, identifying explosives, and safely neutralizing them when necessary. They are often regarded as the unsung heroes of national security.
