UIDAI Urges Timely Biometric Updates for Aadhaar Cards of Children

Aadhar Card Biometric Update Initiative

Aadhar Card Biometric Update: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has called on educational institutions nationwide to ensure that Aadhaar cards for children aged five to 15 are updated promptly. On Wednesday, UIDAI's CEO, Bhuvnesh Kumar, sent a letter to the Chief Secretaries of various states and union territories, emphasizing the need to organize camps in schools to facilitate the completion of pending mandatory biometric updates.

According to a statement from UIDAI, "We have collaborated with the Department of School Education and Literacy to integrate the mandatory biometric update (MBU) status for school children into the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) application. This initiative aims to streamline the biometric update process for millions of students."

17 Crore Aadhaar Cards Awaiting Update

UIDAI highlighted the importance of timely biometric updates for children at the ages of five and 15. Currently, approximately 17 crore Aadhaar numbers are pending mandatory biometric updates.

Failure to update biometric data could lead to challenges in registering for examinations.

Not having updated biometric information may hinder access to various government benefits and complicate verification for competitive exams and university admissions, such as NEET, JEE, and CUET. The UIDAI CEO has reached out to all Chief Secretaries to seek their support in organizing MBU camps.
