DUSU Election 2025: Tensions Escalate at Kirori Mal College
The final campaigning day for the 2025 Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections at Kirori Mal College witnessed significant unrest. A violent confrontation erupted between student factions from the NSUI and ABVP, leading to heightened tensions across the campus. Reports also emerged regarding assaults on students from Purvanchal.
NSUI Accuses ABVP of Disruption
The NSUI accused ABVP members of interrupting their event and attacking their supporters from Purvanchal. They suggested that the violence stemmed from ABVP's frustration over NSUI's substantial backing and their animosity towards Purvanchal students. As of now, ABVP has not issued any official response regarding these allegations.
Ajay Rai's Call for Unity
In the aftermath, Ajay Rai, a leader from the Congress-backed NSUI, shared a video urging students to stay united. He asserted that the ABVP's fear of NSUI's rising popularity was evident in their actions. Rai condemned the incident at Kirori Mal College as an act of hooliganism and emphasized that students would express their dissent through their votes.
Increased Police Presence and Security Measures
In response to the clash, law enforcement was deployed to manage the situation on campus. Security measures have been intensified to avert any further incidents. This escalation has intensified the election atmosphere, with all eyes now focused on the upcoming voting day.
