Exciting news for those awaiting the SSC CPO recruitment for 2026! The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the recruitment notification for Sub-Inspectors (CPO) in both the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Key Changes in the Recruitment Process
This recruitment drive brings several important updates. The SSC has introduced new regulations that affect various aspects, including the exam format, negative marking, and sectional timing. The SSC CPO 2026 recruitment aims to fill over 1,800 positions, which includes 205 vacancies for male candidates and 112 for female candidates as Sub-Inspectors in the Delhi Police.
Moreover, there are 1,320 openings for the Sub-Inspector (SI) role in the CAPF, covering major security forces like the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. Notably, the BSF has the highest number of vacancies, totaling 457.
Eligibility Criteria for SSC CPO Recruitment 2026
Educational Qualification: Most positions require candidates to hold a graduation degree from a recognized university. However, for the Sub-Inspector (Fire) role, candidates must possess a B.Sc. degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or a three-year engineering diploma in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical engineering. Additionally, a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license is necessary for the Delhi Police SI (Male) position.
Age Limit: Applicants should be aged between 20 and 25 years. Age relaxation is available: 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
Significant Changes to the Exam Pattern and Syllabus
Sectional Timing: Similar to the CHSL and CGL exams, sectional timing has been introduced for the CPO exam.
Revised Paper Pattern: Paper-I will now include a total of 100 questions—25 each from Reasoning, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and English—with the exam duration reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour. Paper-II will also consist of 100 questions worth 200 marks.
Negative Marking: A negative marking scheme has been established, with 0.25 marks deducted for incorrect answers in Paper-I and 0.50 marks in Paper-II.
Physical Standards and Tests
Height Requirements: Male candidates must be at least 170 cm tall (with relaxations for candidates from hilly regions and the ST category), while the minimum height for female candidates is set at 157 cm. In the physical test, men are required to complete a 100-meter race in 16 seconds, and women in 18 seconds. Additionally, candidates must qualify in both the long jump and high jump.
Salary Structure for SSC CPO Positions
Delhi Police SI (Male/Female): The salary range is between ₹35,400 and ₹1,12,400 under Level-06 (Group-C).
CAPF and CISF Fire SI: The initial basic salary will range from ₹25,400 to ₹35,400, along with additional allowances under Level-06.
