Young candidates aspiring for government jobs have reason to celebrate as the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has announced its recruitment drive for Constable and Head Constable roles for the year 2026. The official notification indicates that the application window opened on March 21 and will remain active until April 20, 2026.
Recruitment Overview
The SSB aims to fill a total of 1,060 vacancies through this recruitment initiative. This includes 233 positions designated for Head Constables and 827 for Constables.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in applying for the Constable roles must have completed their 10th grade from a recognized educational board, meeting the specific requirements for the respective post or trade. Additionally, applicants should possess a Heavy Vehicle Driving License (HVM), an ITI certificate in the relevant trade (along with a 10th-grade pass), or demonstrate proficiency in the respective field. For Head Constable positions, candidates must have either completed their 10th grade with an ITI certificate or their 12th grade with a diploma in the relevant discipline.
To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must be at least 18 years old. The upper age limit varies by position, with a maximum of 25 years for some roles and 27 years for others. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories as per government norms.
Application Process and Fees
Candidates can fill out and submit their applications online through the official SSB website starting from March 21. Applications submitted through any other means will not be accepted. Those belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹100, while SC and ST candidates are exempt from this fee and can apply free of charge.
Selection Procedure
The selection process for these positions will involve several stages, including a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Written Examination, Skill Test/Typing Test, Document Verification, and a Medical Examination.
