School Holidays Extended in Uttar Pradesh and Other States Due to Severe Cold
Uttar Pradesh School Closures
Uttar Pradesh is currently facing harsh winter conditions accompanied by thick fog. As a result, the state government has decided to prolong the school holidays. Educational institutions for children from nursery through class 8 will remain closed until January 15. Meanwhile, schools for students in classes 9 to 12 will be shut until January 5. This directive applies to all schools across the state, including those affiliated with ICSE, CBSE, and the UP Board. Schools that do not adhere to this mandate will face penalties for non-compliance.
Punjab's Winter Break
Winter Vacation in Punjab until January 8th
In addition to Uttar Pradesh, Punjab has also declared a winter break for schools, extending the holidays until January 8. The state's Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, made this decision in response to the worsening cold weather, extending the break from January 1 to January 8.
Rajasthan School Closures
Schools in Rajasthan to remain closed until this date.
Due to the ongoing cold wave, schools in Rajasthan will be closed until January 5. In Jaipur, the District Collector has announced that Anganwadi centers will also be closed from January 2 to January 10. Furthermore, in the Kashmir Valley, all pre-primary classes will be suspended from November 26 until February 28, 2026. Classes for grades 1 to 8 will be closed from December 1 to February 28, 2026, while classes for grades 9 to 12 will resume on December 11 and conclude on February 22, 2026.
