The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced an extension for the application deadline concerning its 2026 apprentice recruitment program. This decision provides additional time for candidates eager to apply to the nation's largest bank. Interested individuals can now submit their applications until June 15, 2026, through SBI's official career portals.


To apply, candidates must first register on the NAPS portal before proceeding with their online application.

The application process commenced on May 19, with the initial deadline set for June 8, which has now been pushed to June 15. This recruitment initiative aims to fill a total of 7,150 apprentice roles across various states and union territories.


Eligibility Criteria

What are the eligibility criteria?


1. Educational Qualification: Applicants must possess a graduation degree in any field from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.


2. Age Limit: Candidates should be aged between 20 and 28 years as of April 1, 2026, meaning they must have been born between April 2, 1998, and April 1, 2006. The upper age limit is set at 28 years for Unreserved (UR) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates, with relaxations available for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).


Selection Process

What is the selection process?


The recruitment selection will involve an online written examination followed by a local language proficiency test. The online exam will evaluate candidates on General and Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and Computer Aptitude. Those who succeed in the online exam will need to take a local language proficiency test relevant to their state or union territory. Candidates who have studied the local language in Class 10 or Class 12 will be exempt from this test.


Stipend Information

What is the stipend?


The apprenticeship at SBI will last for one year, during which selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000. However, it is important to note that they will not be eligible for benefits typically provided to permanent SBI employees, such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Provident Fund, pension, medical facilities, and other service-related perks.
