New Delhi: For those dreaming of a government job in the railway sector, there is significant news. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has opened online applications for the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) recruitment for 2025. A total of 3,058 vacancies have been announced for candidates who have completed their 12th grade. The application process will commence on October 28, 2025, and will remain open until November 27, 2025, on the official website rrbapply.gov.in.


This year's recruitment includes positions such as Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk-cum-Typist, Junior Clerk-cum-Typist, and Train Clerk. Compared to last year's 3,445 positions, the number of vacancies has slightly decreased to 3,058 this time.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Requirements


Candidates must have passed the 12th grade from a recognized board with at least 50% marks. However, this 50% criterion does not apply to candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Persons with Disabilities. For typing-based positions, applicants must have a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old as of January 1, 2026.

  • There will be a relaxation of 5 years for candidates from Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and 3 years for Other Backward Classes.


Selection Process

Recruitment Process


The recruitment process will consist of two stages of Computer-Based Tests (CBT 1 and CBT 2), followed by a typing skill test for the relevant positions.



  • CBT 1: 90 minutes, 100 questions (40 General Awareness, 30 Mathematics, 30 Reasoning).

  • CBT 2: 90 minutes, 120 questions (50 General Awareness, 35 Mathematics, 35 Reasoning).


Candidates will be shortlisted for CBT 2 based on 15 times the number of vacancies. After CBT 2, shortlisted candidates for clerical positions will undergo a typing test.

Fee Structure


The application fee is set at ₹500 for General and OBC candidates. Those who appear for CBT 1 will receive a refund of ₹400 after the exam. For SC, ST, women, EWS, and disabled candidates, the fee is ₹250, which will be fully refunded after participating in CBT 1.
