RRB Result Announcement: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially released the final results for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment examination on October 1, 2025. This recruitment is crucial as loco pilots play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficient operation of trains. The recruitment process commenced last year, with the initial Computer-Based Test (CBT) taking place from November 25 to 29, 2024. The second CBT was conducted on May 2 and 6, 2025, followed by the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) on July 15 and August 31, 2025. A total of 18,735 candidates who successfully navigated these stages will now proceed to document verification and medical examinations.

More than 4.9 million candidates submitted applications for the RRB Loco Pilot recruitment. In comparison, the 2018 ALP recruitment attracted over 2.5 million applications. The official notifications and reports indicate that the 2024 recruitment saw approximately 4.9 million applications, with RRB Ranchi alone recording 45,449 applications.
Training and Employment Opportunities
Post-Test Training:
Successful candidates will undergo a 120-day training program. Only after completing this training will they be eligible to join the Railways as Assistant Loco Pilots. This recruitment initiative aims to provide job opportunities for thousands of young individuals while enhancing the safety of rail travel. The RRB has ensured a transparent and rigorous selection process to appoint qualified candidates for this critical role.
Examination Participation

In the first phase of CBT-1, around 2.5 to 3 million candidates participated in the examination, which is an estimated figure. Historically, previous recruitments, such as the 2018 ALP, also saw over 2.5 million candidates for CBT-1. A similar turnout is anticipated for 2024, with approximately 50-60% of applicants expected to take the exam.
For CBT-2, it is estimated that around 200,000 to 300,000 candidates who qualified for CBT-1 appeared for the second stage in May 2025.
During the CBAT, approximately 50,000 to 60,000 candidates who passed CBT-2 participated in the aptitude test held in July and August 2025.
Ultimately, 18,735 candidates have been shortlisted for the final stages of document verification and medical assessments.
