Rajasthan Government to Hire 24,752 Sanitation Workers in 2026

The Rajasthan government is set to recruit 24,752 sanitation workers in 2026, focusing on unemployed youth. This initiative will utilize an online lottery system for selection, eliminating the need for written exams or interviews. Applications will be accepted from August 15 to September 28, 2026. Candidates must be residents of Rajasthan with at least one year of sanitation work experience. Selected individuals will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹7,410, with various reservations in place for women and differently-abled candidates. This recruitment drive aims to enhance employment opportunities across the state.
 

Rajasthan's Recruitment Initiative for Sanitation Workers



The Rajasthan government has unveiled an extensive recruitment plan for sanitation workers set for 2026, targeting unemployed youth in the state. A total of 24,752 positions will be filled on a contractual basis across 183 urban local bodies. Notably, this recruitment will not involve any written exams or interviews; instead, candidates will be chosen through an online lottery system. The application window will open on August 15, 2026, and close on September 28, 2026. Applicants must use their SSO ID or visit the Directorate of Local Bodies' website to apply, and a live photograph must be uploaded during the application process.


Applications should be submitted exclusively through the SSO ID or the Directorate of Local Bodies portal. Candidates are permitted to apply for only one urban local body; submitting multiple applications will lead to the cancellation of all submissions. Additionally, there is a provision to regularize selected candidates after five years of satisfactory service, in line with existing regulations.


**Eligibility Criteria**


As of January 1, 2027, applicants must be aged between 21 and 40 years. Relaxations in the upper age limit will be provided for reserved category and female candidates as per government norms. There are no minimum educational requirements, allowing even illiterate individuals to apply. However, candidates must be genuine residents of Rajasthan and possess at least one year of experience in sanitation work, with the experience certificate issued after August 1, 2026, and verified by an authorized body.


**Selection Process**


The selection will occur without any written tests or interviews. After document verification, candidates will be selected through an online lottery facilitated by software from the Department of Information Technology and Communication. Preference will be given to local candidates with relevant experience. The application fee is set at ₹600 for the general category and ₹400 for reserved category and differently-abled candidates.


**Salary Details**


Selected candidates will earn a monthly honorarium of ₹7,410 during their contract period. The recruitment process will also include horizontal reservation benefits: 30% for women, 4% for persons with disabilities, and 2% for exceptional sportspersons. Jaipur will have the highest number of vacancies at 4,811, with significant openings also in cities like Kota, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Sikar, Bharatpur, and Ajmer.
