Rajasthan CET 2026: Key Changes and New Opportunities for Candidates
Rajasthan CET 2026 Examination Updates
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) is gearing up for the CET 2026 examination, introducing significant changes that will affect a vast number of candidates. Notably, the Board has announced the introduction of negative marking in the CET exam, along with an increase in the exam's difficulty level compared to previous years. Furthermore, the CET certificate's validity has been extended to three years, benefiting over 2 million candidates statewide. Only those who successfully pass the CET will be eligible to apply for major recruitment positions, including Patwari, VDO, LDC, and Police Constable roles. The application process is expected to begin soon.
Exam Schedule and Application Process
The CET Graduate Level examination is slated for November 2026, with online applications anticipated to open in June 2026. Candidates will have about a month to submit their applications. Additionally, the CET Senior Secondary Level exam is tentatively scheduled for December 2026, with applications likely starting in July 2026.
Introduction of Negative Marking
Chairman Alok Raj emphasized that this year's exam will be more challenging than in the past. The implementation of negative marking aims to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are selected, with the Board aiming to qualify around 300,000 to 400,000 candidates.
Recruitment Opportunities for CET Qualifiers
Candidates who pass the CET will gain eligibility for various important recruitment drives in the state, including positions such as Patwari, Village Development Officer (VDO), Junior Accountant, LDC, Platoon Commander, Hostel Superintendent, and Police Constable. Currently, many recruitment processes are on hold due to the absence of CET eligibility criteria.
Extended Validity of CET Certificate
The CET certificate's validity has been increased from one year to three years, alleviating the need for candidates to retake the exam repeatedly.
CET 2024 Validity Expiration
The validity of the CET 2024 examination expired in February 2026, leading to the lapse of eligibility for 8.78 lakh candidates at the graduate level and 9.17 lakh candidates at the senior secondary level. This situation created uncertainty among students regarding the new CET examination, which the Board has now addressed.
