The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh has released a notification inviting applications for 134 vacant positions, primarily for Senior Residents across various departments.


Vacancy Breakdown

Out of the total 134 vacancies, 110 are designated for Senior Residents in different departments. The distribution of these positions is as follows:



  • 16 in Anesthesia


  • 2 each in Anatomy, Community Medicine, OHSC (Prosthodontics), Ophthalmology, and Pathology


  • 1 each in OHSC (Oral Surgery), OHSC (Orthodontics), Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Physical Rehabilitation Medicine, Psychiatry, Psychiatry (DDTC), Renal Transplant Surgery, Immunopathology (Neuro), Nephrology, Pharmacology, and Neuropathology


  • 3 each in Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, and Nuclear Medicine


  • 4 each in Pediatrics and Radiotherapy


  • 5 each in Medical Microbiology and Transfusion Medicine


  • 6 in Internal Medicine


  • 7 in General Surgery


  • 9 in Hospital Administration


  • 10 in Radio-diagnosis


  • 13 in Obstetrics and Gynecology



Additionally, the PGIMER Satellite Center has 13 Senior Resident roles, including 1 each in various specialties such as Anesthesia, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, and more.


Application Deadline

The online application process began on April 25, with the last date for submission set for May 11. Interested candidates should visit the official PGIMER website to complete their applications before the deadline.


Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must hold relevant qualifications from recognized institutions, such as MBBS, MD/MS, or MSc/MA/MPH with a PhD. Additional qualifications in fields like Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Sociology may also be required.


The upper age limit for applicants is 45 years as of the application deadline, with relaxations available for candidates from reserved categories.


Selection Process and Salary

The selection will involve a multi-stage process, including a Computer-Based Test (CBT), shortlisting, interviews, and document verification. Successful candidates can expect a monthly salary ranging from ₹35,400 to ₹67,700, along with various benefits and allowances. The CBT is tentatively scheduled for May 22.
