Odisha's Chief Minister Encourages New Teachers to Build Confidence in Students
Empowering Educators in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged newly appointed school teachers to foster a sense of security and confidence in their students, encouraging them to act as supportive friends.
During a ceremony in Bhubaneswar, he handed out appointment letters to 2,067 newly recruited sevaks, sevikas, and tribal language teachers under the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste Development, Minorities and Backwards Classes Welfare Department.
Majhi highlighted that the BJP government is systematically addressing vacant positions, fulfilling commitments made ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections.
Since the recruitment initiatives commenced in June 2024, a total of 48,642 individuals have secured employment, according to Majhi.
The chief minister emphasized the government's commitment to teacher recruitment, noting that 28,693 educators have been appointed thus far.
With scheduled castes and tribes making up nearly 40% of Odisha's population, the government is implementing targeted strategies to improve their educational outcomes.
In line with the National Education Policy-2020, there is a strong focus on teaching in native languages at the primary level, with education being provided in ten tribal languages across Odisha's schools.
Majhi cautioned against any irregularities in programs such as the mid-day meal initiative, urging teachers to maintain vigilance.
He also advised the new recruits to uphold the integrity of the teaching profession and avoid any behavior that could tarnish its reputation.
Nityananda Gond, the SC and ST Development Minister, reminded the new teachers that their role is a noble service rather than just a job, stating, "You are the nation-builders, and our country takes pride in you."
He expressed optimism that the goals of 'Viksit Bharat' and a 'Prosperous Odisha' can only be achieved when schools evolve into institutions that nurture exemplary individuals.
