Odisha's Chief Minister Boosts Advocate Welfare with Significant Financial Aid Increase
Enhanced Financial Support for Advocates in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to support the legal community, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has sanctioned a 40% rise in the financial aid allocated to advocates from the State Advocates’ Welfare Fund.
This assistance is available to lawyers upon their retirement and extends to their families in the unfortunate event of their passing. The increased support is anticipated to benefit numerous practicing lawyers throughout Odisha's courts.
As per the Chief Minister's Office, the last adjustment to the welfare assistance for advocates occurred in 2021. This recent decision is aimed at enhancing the social security framework for legal professionals and their families.
Under the updated scheme, advocates with a practice duration of up to five years can receive financial aid of Rs 1.05 lakh in case of death, which will be disbursed to their closest family member.
The assistance amount will rise progressively with each additional year of legal practice. Benefits will be accessible for both retirement and death scenarios.
For advocates who have served for 30 years, the maximum financial aid of Rs 6.30 lakh will be granted upon retirement. In the case of their death, the same sum will be awarded to their nearest family member.
