Salary Boost for AYUSH Doctors in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi sanctioned a proposal to increase the salaries of contractual AYUSH doctors employed under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Odisha, according to an official statement.
The salary increments will vary between Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 per month, contingent on the doctors' years of service, as detailed in the announcement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
For those with less than five years of experience, the salary will rise by Rs 20,000, bringing their total to Rs 56,948.
Doctors with five to ten years of experience will see an increase of Rs 25,000, elevating their basic salary to Rs 74,467. Meanwhile, those with ten to fifteen years of service will receive a Rs 30,000 hike, resulting in a monthly salary of Rs 80,467.
The highest increment of Rs 40,000 will be awarded to doctors with over fifteen years of experience, raising their salary to Rs 91,467, as stated.
This decision is set to benefit 2,912 AYUSH doctors working on a contractual basis under NHM, with the salary adjustments expected to add an estimated Rs 1 crore to the state's annual expenditure.
Majhi emphasized that this salary increase acknowledges the vital role AYUSH doctors play in the healthcare system.
AYUSH doctors include practitioners of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.
