Reopening of Schools in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Nityananda Gond, the Minister for School and Mass Education in Odisha, announced on Monday that all educational institutions, including both government and private schools, will resume classes on June 18 following the summer break.

The summer vacation commenced on April 27 due to rising temperatures across various regions in the state.

"The government prioritizes the education of our students. With the arrival of the monsoon, temperatures have started to decrease. Therefore, schools will reopen on June 18," Gond informed the media.

In the event of extreme heat conditions persisting on June 18, the government will reassess the situation to ensure the well-being of the students.

Additionally, the government is making arrangements to distribute textbooks to students as quickly as possible.

Typically, the summer break lasts from May 6 to June 17, but due to the prevailing heat wave, the government opted for an earlier closure.
