NTA Addresses NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak Allegations
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially dismissed a viral video on social media that falsely claims the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper was leaked.
In a statement shared on X, the agency confirmed that the exam was executed successfully with stringent security measures in place.
The NTA stated, "Our attention has been drawn to a fabricated video circulating regarding NEET (UG) 2026. This video is entirely false, and the assertions made within it are untrue."
The agency emphasized that spreading such misinformation to deceive or panic students constitutes a serious offense.
The NTA, in collaboration with I4C and law enforcement, is actively pursuing those responsible for creating this misleading content.
The agency urged students, parents, and the public to rely solely on the official website and verified social media accounts for accurate information, advising against sharing unverified material.
"Our more than 20 lakh aspirants deserve a peaceful and fair examination process," the NTA stated.
Over 20 lakh medical candidates participated in the NEET re-examination on Sunday, following the cancellation of the original test due to paper leaks, which sparked significant public outcry.
Abhishek Singh, the Director General of NTA, noted that a coordinated government effort enabled the agency to conduct this extensive examination in record time.
According to the NTA, more than 20 lakh candidates sat for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-exam at 5,440 centers across India and 14 international locations, with the test available in 13 languages, including Hindi and English.
"This was not just the NTA's effort; it was a collective endeavor involving numerous individuals nationwide, ensuring that each candidate could focus solely on their exam paper that day," the agency remarked.
Approximately 7 lakh officials, including police teams, observers, and examination staff, were mobilized across the country to facilitate this examination, completed in an impressive 37 days. The NTA expressed gratitude to academic experts who volunteered their time to create multiple sets of question papers.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the arrangements for the re-examination at the NTA headquarters in Okhla, Delhi.
The NTA informed the minister about the logistical and technical measures implemented to ensure the examination's efficient and transparent execution, as stated by the Ministry of Education.
The agency highlighted that extensive provisions were made for all candidates, including over 10,000 individuals with disabilities.
Special accommodations were arranged for around 81 candidates with medical conditions, including a child recovering from a road accident and another undergoing chemotherapy, both determined to take the exam they had prepared for years.
The NTA implemented Aadhaar-based biometric and facial recognition, CCTV monitoring, jammers, and two-layer security checks with state police assistance at examination centers.
"National-level command and control centers for CCTV monitoring were established at the NTA, the Ministry of Education, 34 Centrally Funded Institutions, and at District Collectorates," the agency stated.
NTA DG Abhishek Singh reported minor incidents involving individuals presenting incorrect or forged admit cards and attempts at impersonation, which were swiftly addressed.
Some candidates attempted to bring mobile phones into the examination, but security measures effectively prevented this, underscoring the importance of the implemented frisking and surveillance protocols.
While investigations into the alleged paper leak continue, the newly formed Cockroach Janta Party, led by Abhijeet Dipke, has been organizing protests nationwide, demanding the resignation of the education minister.
The NTA acknowledged the support of CAPF and various central ministries in conducting the examination.
