NTA Clarifies NEET Exam Center Controversy for Nagpur Student
Clarification from NTA on Exam Center Assignment
A student from Nagpur was unexpectedly assigned to an exam center in Abu Dhabi for the NEET re-examination. In response to the ensuing controversy, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided clarification regarding the situation.
The NTA addressed concerns after a Nagpur candidate was allocated an Abu Dhabi center for the NEET (UG) 2026 exam. Following the postponement of the exam to June 21, candidates were allowed to revise their preferred exam city. The agency reported that around 320,000 candidates took advantage of this opportunity, with over 99.5% receiving their chosen exam location.
Details of the Controversy
Abdullah Mohammad Talib, the Nagpur student, was taken aback when he found that his admit card indicated an exam center in Abu Dhabi. This led to widespread inquiries on social media, prompting the NTA to respond.
Change of Center Process
The NTA clarified that the change to the Abu Dhabi center was made through the candidate's registered account. System logs confirm that the alteration was initiated by the candidate himself.
Request for Change to Nagpur Center
On June 19, just two days before the exam, the NTA received an informal request to switch the exam center from Abu Dhabi back to Nagpur. The agency acted quickly, reaching out to the candidate's father that evening to assist with the necessary changes.
Multiple Instances of Abu Dhabi Center
The NTA noted that the Abu Dhabi center was recorded as the chosen location once through the candidate's ID, and it appeared twice during the preview phase. Despite this, the agency complied with the student's request and facilitated the change.
NTA's Commitment to Students
The NTA emphasized its commitment to prioritizing student needs, ensuring that no candidate faces undue hardship when taking the exam. The agency is dedicated to providing all necessary support to candidates.
