Overview of NEET UG Seat Allocation Changes
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has made significant updates to the NEET UG seat allocation for the academic year 2025-26. A total of 126,600 MBBS seats are now available across India, which includes both newly sanctioned and renewed seats. This year, there are 9,075 additional MBBS seats approved nationwide, excluding those at AIIMS and JIPMER. Candidates are encouraged to thoroughly examine the updated seat matrix and comply with the guidelines and timelines set forth by the NMC.
State-Specific Seat Adjustments
Increases in MBBS Seats
Shanthiram Medical College in Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, has expanded its intake from 150 to 250 seats. Additionally, Anna Gowri Medical College has received approval to start with 150 seats. Various medical institutions in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have also increased their seat capacities, thereby enhancing opportunities for aspiring medical students.
Reductions in MBBS Seats
Withdrawn Seats
Conversely, 456 MBBS seats have been removed from the Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Delhi due to ongoing court cases and non-compliance with established regulations. This has led to a net reduction of 150 seats from the approved list.
