Under this regulation, part-time PhD candidates must engage in regular classes, coursework, and research activities for at least six months. The university anticipates that this initiative will bolster the academic foundation of research scholars, allowing them to gain a more profound comprehension of their fields.


Significant Changes for Employed Candidates

For those currently employed, the most notable alteration is the requirement to complete full-time coursework before being eligible for part-time PhD admission. Candidates must finish their full-time studies and, if they are employed and aged 40 or older, they may then apply to transition to part-time study. This process will undergo thorough evaluation at various levels.


Approval Process for Research Proposals

The new regulations also impose stricter guidelines for the approval of research proposals. Initially, the relevant department will prepare the proposal, which will then be submitted to the Research Degree Committee (RDC) for detailed assessment. Following the RDC's approval, the Academic Council will make the final decision. This establishes a three-tier approval system involving the Vice-Chancellor, the RDC, and the Academic Council, a decision made during a recent Academic Council meeting led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sangita Srivastava.
