NCERT Unveils CBSE Parenting Calendar for Enhanced Child Development
Introduction to the CBSE Parenting Calendar
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced the 'CBSE Parenting Calendar' as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aimed at the academic year 2026-27. This initiative seeks to enhance the overall development of children by improving collaboration between parents and educational institutions.
Objectives of the Parenting Calendar
This initiative, rolled out by the CBSE, will provide parents with insights into their children's behaviors and mental health through a series of workshops.
Understanding the 'Parenting Calendar'
The 'Parenting Calendar' is designed to equip parents with knowledge and skills to better understand their children's behavior. It includes training on critical issues such as the negative impacts of social media, gaming addiction, and managing screen time.
Age-Specific Categories for Children
The CBSE has established distinct categories within the 'Parenting Calendar' tailored for various age groups, enabling parents to effectively address the unique challenges their children encounter.
Categories Explained
Bal Vatika: This category focuses on guiding parents in nurturing habits, emotional growth, and strategies to limit screen time for nursery and pre-primary children.
Middle Classes: Here, parents will learn how to support their children's social interactions and friendships, as well as enhance their self-esteem.
Senior Classes: This section aims to assist parents in helping students manage career-related stress and the pressures of board exams while developing vital life skills.
Workshops and Support for Parents
Schools will not only conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) but also regular workshops aimed at helping parents understand their children's behavior and mental health. Support groups will be formed, and initiatives like projects and 'Open House' programs will encourage offline engagement between children and their parents.
