A recent order mandates that all in-service educators appointed between 1998 and 2010, who have yet to pass the eligibility test, must take it. Following a ruling from the Supreme Court, teachers can no longer opt out of this examination.

Interestingly, the responsibility for administering the MP TET has been transferred to the Board of Secondary Education rather than the State Staff Selection Board. The examination will be conducted in an offline format. As a result, teachers will serve as invigilators at the exam venues, raising concerns about the examination's transparency and fairness.
Eligibility Criteria for TET Exam
**Who is Eligible for the TET Exam?**
Teachers employed in state government schools who have not yet passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) as required by the Right to Education (RTE) Act must take this eligibility test. This requirement applies to both primary and secondary level educators.
For primary-level teachers: This includes assistant teachers, primary teachers, Contract School Teachers (Category III), and laboratory teachers.
For secondary-level teachers: High-grade teachers, secondary teachers, *Adhyapaks*, and Contract School Teachers (Category II) are also required to take the exam if they have not previously passed the eligibility test.
Exemption for CTET-qualified teachers: Those who have already cleared the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) are exempt from retaking this eligibility test.
Private School Teachers' Participation

Teachers working in private (non-government) schools at both primary and secondary levels in the state are also eligible to take this test; the opportunity is not restricted to government school educators.
Application Process and Deadline

Eligible teachers can submit their applications online through the Staff Selection Board's portal. The last date for application submission is October 5. Regarding exam centers, priority will generally be given to the teacher's district of employment. Candidates will typically be assigned an exam center at the district headquarters of their employment district. However, if the number of candidates in a district is low, they may be assigned to a nearby district's exam center.
